In September 2024, we are switching over to the new Roundcube version 1.6. Here is a summary of important changes.
The new Roundcube has two-factor authentication integrated. So, this avoids the double login page we used to have (one page using the two-factor login on the IDP server, followed by Roundcubes own login form that didn't know the user was already logged in).
For most users, this will be a nice advantage, making it easier to log in. However, there may still be some people who use their own two-factor login setup for the first screen, followed by logging in on a group or project account on the 2nd screen to avoid setting up two-factor authentication for the group or project mailbox. If you are one of these users, please contact the computer group to discuss possible solutions for your setup.
Most settings and preferences have been transferred from the previous version. During testing it was noticed, that this doesn't include sorting and list options (buttons shown above the message list and contacts list).
The “elastic” and “elastic dark” skins have been merged, and the skin has a button in the left sidebar to toggle between light and dark modes with a single click.
As in the current webmail, our LDAP server will be connected as an addressbook, making it possible to look up everyone in the institute as a mail recipient. In the new version, Institute Lorentz is available as well as an address book.
